Overview
The Zebra DS9908R adds a UHF RFID reader to the DS9908 hybrid presentation scanner, so retailers can read RFID-tagged goods at the point of sale and commission tags on returned or new items. Zebra supplies RFID data conversion software so existing POS applications can read tags without changes. The DS9908R-HD version is used in labs and blood processing.
The RFID module supports EPC Class 1 Gen2 and ISO 18000-63 tags with a nominal read range of about 45.7 cm. The imager reads 1D, 2D, OCR and Digimarc (standard model) with swipe speeds up to 610 cm per second. It is IP42 rated.
