Overview
The Zebra DS8108 is a premium corded 1D/2D imager for high-volume retail checkouts and other scan-intensive counters. It reads virtually every 1D and 2D barcode, including Digimarc digital watermarks, on paper and on phone screens. The DS8108-HC version is built for hospitals. Zebra lists the newer DS8208 as its successor.
A 1280 x 960 sensor and a 48° field of view give fast first-time reads, with 13 mil UPC captured from contact to 61 cm. It also captures images and documents at 109 PPI on A4. It is IP52 rated, survives 1.8 m drops and 2,000 tumbles, and is FIPS 140-3 certified.
